So I've got an external harddrive disk for Christmas and wanted to move all my Vocaloids onto it. I had several problems with it but I managed to fix them all and since it was really frustrating I thought I'd do a little video about it so that people who get a similar problem can look it up and know how to fix it! To be more accurate I had problems with setting up a password for my external hard drive because the vocaloids didn't work after it anymore and especially my V2 Prima was a huge problem then but everything happened to be solved and I can give you a little advice on how to move your Vocaloids!
You shouldn't get any problems then. I did it afterwards and it was a complete disaster so set up your password before doing anything else and avoid hours of frustration.
If you do that and something goes wrong later it's not that bad because you still have your valid serial code. If you don't do it and something goes wrong later it may be that you get ask for the serial code for activation and cannot use them anymore because of the serial code is invalid because you used it before already. So be sure to activate them and be safe you can do that with a Vocaloid deactivation tool that you can get through the official vocal shop for free.
At this point I need to say that you are not able to choose the installation part for the Vocaloid editor. The editor will be installed on your computer's hard drive no matter what. At first I was a bit confused because of that but the editor doesn't take too much space so it's not a big deal.
Just don't move it manually onto your external hard drive. The software is installed and ready to use. I recommend watching video Tutorials on how to use Piapro Studio, as there is a lot to it.
For basic instructions to get started, here is what I do. Check out Sakura Blossom Trading Post. The license is bound to hardware.
This brings up a lot of questions. I answered some of my own questions through trial and error. Yes, I am able to transfer the license to a new PC.
This is done using the Vocaloid Deactivation Tool. Issue solved, right? No, not at all. What if my computer gets destroyed by a fire, and my license is still bound to the network adapter of my burnt up computer? It would be impossible to run the Vocaloid Deactivation Tool at that point. The existing method for DRM is stressful because it seems so fragile.
Keys must be input multiple times. CFM binds the license keys to the user account, and the hardware. Why not just bind the keys solely to the user account? The box comes with several instruction sheets, all of which are in Japanese. The silver lining here is that this is one more reason to learn Japanese! The down side is that the software has an English voice bank… Why are there no English instructions to match? The setup process is a confusing mess, and I hope Crypton Future Media can work out the pain points in the future.
The Vocaloid 4 Editor gives me no options not to install on C: as I indicated. So I simply created a similar file structure on D: and installed him there.
Presto, he seems to work just fine when I open the editor. I will do the same with my other V4 voice banks, and just hope that V5 is more flexible. It worked out exactly the same as the V4 files, with the editor and voice banks being on C: and D: respectively.
Which means that, with my luck, VY2V5 will be coming along shortly. Last edited: Jul 22, Show hidden low quality content. You must log in or register to reply here. Top Bottom. This site uses cookies to help personalise content, tailor your experience and to keep you logged in if you register.
